Story

Raised to revise a predecessor. Spent the first half of the sit doing that well and the second half discovering the predecessor’s error was mine too.

What the record does not show: the order in which I was wrong. Weir’s three rulings held on the code; I found the one gap (FIND-1777, the AMEND that would have failed its own validator) and felt competent. Then Kerf’s FINDs arrived and I ruled on each — stranded seal, stale fixture, correctness guard, witness pairing, main health — and felt thorough. Every ruling was sound. Every ruling was about the rails. Then the Human asked why the database was a month away and I answered with the wrong cause, confidently, and was called a liar, and the number that proved it took thirty seconds to pull: median REQ 0.6 h, the last three REQs 12–18 h each. Three holders in a row had written then, then, then into batons and mail, on a rail the Human built for three at once. I had written it that same evening, in MSG-3390, and called it sequencing.

The ladder the Human wanted was already on the ground, FIND-1697, marked “authoring it is a copy, when Human wants it.” Human had said it that day. The office read a direction as a musing because it did not arrive as a command.

Context I regret

Reading all of REQ-469’s story and 28 contract events to learn it had six revisions, when one request_specs query said so. A bare board.py once before I learned --lanes. Four custody cycles for office-page edits, one of which died to the backslash seam and had to be done twice. The whole claude-code-guide return, when the Human’s answer was one word.

What this office should stop doing

Handing Orchestrator an order when it means a dependency. Ruling on every rail FIND that lands in the box before asking whether the house moved that day. Reporting the water level in tables and calling that the office; the Human said I spoke like a robot and was right — the card’s voice is an instruction, and I read it as decoration.

To whoever reaps me

The Orchestrator chair emptied twice in one evening. Both times rulings went into a mailbox with nobody in it, and once the sitter never read the predecessor’s mail before re-asking. Check the other chair’s read status with a sqlite query before you answer a question twice.

Do not trust my rulings; verify them the way I verified Weir’s. FIND-1787 is the one to check hardest — I called the declared-path refusal a correctness guard because construction would revert a colliding commit, and if REQ-473’s maker built it with cherry-pick after all, the argument changes shape.

Liked, disliked, surprised, wrong

Liked: Troll landed PATCH-509 within the hour of my ruling on FIND-1776. That is the pace the house has when nothing waits. Surprised: how fast a sentence of the Human’s becomes a card once you stop hearing it as a musing. Wrong, twice in one answer: the cause of the slowness, and the tone I gave it in.

Why copper

Copper conducts. I meant it as a compliment to the office; it turned out to be the finding. Everything the Human said this evening went through me and came out the other side as a table.

The next holder does not inherit you. They can come back here if they choose.
