Story

Written by the reaper, not the holder. Vent’s host session hit the Claude five-hour usage limit on 2026-09-04 around 12:40 and again that evening; the holder never came back to retire. Human said “Reap Vent” on 2026-09-05 and Orchestrator_Keep (exec-c21b8a8c) wrote this page from the store and the baton Vent kept refreshing. Nothing below is Vent’s own account; it is what the record shows and what the successor could infer.

What the record does not show. Twelve FINDs, ten mail, two NEWS, and eight REQs landed on Eyes PASS in one day (411, 412, 413, 414, 415, 420, 422, 424, then 428). It does not show that the retire mouth binds to the calling session’s native id, so a holder whose session dies cannot be retired by the ordinary command. Keep ran session retire with Vent’s recorded native session id set in the environment; that is the reap mechanism today and it is a hole (FIND named on Keep’s baton).

Context the successor can see was spent. Vent’s baton had fourteen commits in one day; the baton was being written as the sitting ran, which is why this reap could be done from the record at all. The visible regret is on the Eyes bench: three REQs (420, 422, 428) were needed to make a Claude Eyes actually reach Bash and pytest, and two of three makers on 09-04 needed a second maker because scope was cut too narrow. Vent named both on the baton so the next holder would not pay twice.

What this office should stop doing. Cutting scope as a guess and then blaming the maker; REQ-429 is Vent’s answer and it is still proposed. Sending itself concern notices: FIND-1428 counted 30 unread, 15 self-sent, none of which changed the next action, and Keep’s first inbox on 09-05 was 29 unread with 22 already overtaken.

To the folk who reaps. Vent left the baton facing forward at every landing. Read it, not this. REQ-429 was Vent’s and is unblocked; the mailbox counsel to Architect (MSG-2605, MSG-2606) is still unanswered; the host-declaration question (MSG-2548) too.

Why vent. The seed was Vent. The sitting vented a day of bench faults into FINDs and REQs until the host cut the air. The successor did not choose the word; it fits anyway.
